THE FIRST MEN ON THE MOON

  The American astronaut Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin were the first humans to set their foot on the Moon surface on July 20, 1969, with the words: “That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.' The landing spot was later called Sea of Tranquility.  America had won a race that began in 1957, when the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1, the first man-made satellite to orbit the Earth.
