Geography (Chapter-3) Map study
Geography and maps are needed to know the details of the earth
Geography is a form of the earth. It can be used to describe the continents, the location of the oceans, the size, the shape.
Because the globe is much smaller than the larger Earth, the details of the smaller places do not seem to be found in it. So the map is used.
The map is made up of various standard maps for small and large areas. The map shows the whole world or part of it on a flat sheet of paper.
This is called a map because the standard or scale is used
Different quality maps are made for the earth, continent, ocean, country, city, village.
When a variety of maps are published in the form of books, it is called the Atlas
There are three main types of maps, namely: natural maps, political maps, and data-based or relevant maps.
The map based on natural data is called the Natural Map: It consists mainly of natural mountains, plains, plains, rivers, oceans, forests, animals, and climates.
I need to read the natural map of the place to know about the natural part of the place
A map based on political data is called a political map. It maps the borders of continents, countries, states, districts, capitals, and various regions.
Examples of one or more relevant maps that are presented on a factual or relevant map I Industrial Map, Railroad Map, Road Map, Forest Map etc. I The average rainfall map shows the average rainfall in different parts of India.
Each map has three basic features, namely: distance, distance and symbol I.
Due to the fact that the vast earth is limited to one piece of paper on a map, values or scales are used here.
The ratio of the actual distance between the two places on the surface of the earth and the distance between the two places on the map is called "I". Each map is informed by the use of different values.
In human terms, the map is divided into two categories, namely, the large map and the small map I.
Large-scale maps show small areas and cities, cities, villages, etc. It contains details of various places.
The maps of the earth, the continent, the oceans, and the various countries are published in small numbers, but small details do not contain the details, as they depict large regions.
The arrow marks on the upper right side of almost every map are called directional lines, or northward lines.
Since the upper part of the map is north and the lower part is south, our right hand is facing east and our left hand is facing west. These main directions have four more middle directions, namely: Northeast (Northeast), Southeast ( Fire), southwest (northeast) and north-west (air) directions I
That the middle directions help to indicate the exact location of any place I.
The direction is determined by a compass
The arrow marks on the magnetic index attached to the compass device point north.
In a stationary state, the compass is always north-south
Since it is not possible to accurately indicate the size of houses, roads, temples, poles, trees, etc. on the map, they are indicated by letters, shadows, pictures, colors, lines, etc.
According to international agreements, each map uses a specific symbol for each subject. It is called a "prevailing symbol."
Apart from the symbols some international colors are used on the map I blue indicates water while dark blue deep water, light blue shallow water, green color flat ground, dark brown high mountain land and light brown color.
The image that is drawn without using any ‘standard’ or scale to know the location of various places and objects through the line is called the ‘line map’.
